Whether you’re organising a large corporate party, or a birthday party the devil is most definitely in the details. The Event Book have popped together our top tips and tricks for hiring a private dining room or restaurant in London:
The average cost to hire a private dining room in London is £800.00. This is based on venues charging a minimum spend as opposed to room hire. A minimum spend means that you commit to a minimum spend on food and beverage spend, meaning you get the room free as long as you spend on F&B. If you are looking at a typical menu price for 3 course menu this can vary from restaurant to restaurant but as an average cost we would recommend £50.00 – £80.00
Its so much fun planning a private dining event and if you are looking to go that extra mile and really make the it a event to remember we have popped together a couple of our top tips to make your event go down with a bang. Whether you’re organising a seven-course degustation or a sweet afternoon tea in a leafy garden courtyard, a great foodie event is all about the details.
Seasonal produce – Try and serve seasonal, organic produce, artisan bread, a selection of London craft beers, to make it relevant to the local suppliers, to reflect the city you are in.
Build your own starter – Can work very well. Set up a small specialty food station that could work really well for networking lunches where people do not really know each other and acts as a talking point for your guests. Try to build your own canapes, such as mini tacos or prawn cocktail stations.
The Chefs station – A chef’s station is always a great ice breaker, and each restaurant will have a different option available, so ensure you ask, as chefs love to show off their knife skills. Some ideas would be to have a chef shuck oysters or roll sushi for your guests on the spot.
Get Creative with the drinks – Make is classy and fun with a cocktail station after the food has been served, or even before! A designagned spirit or signature drink of your choice 0 gin is very popular so you could opt for either a gin based cocktail or simply offer gin with different mixers. Make sure to have coloured tonic waters, juniper berry–infused ice cubes and classic garnishes, like fresh herbs and muddled cucumber, on hand)
Dessert Stations – Have a dessert station instead of a plated dessert, this is great for getting people up and about chatting and can add the real wow factor to the end of the meal. From profiterole towers, to a brownie and hot chocolate bar, to mulled wine station with mince pies for christmas time, there really are so many options.
Sweet Takeaways – If you want to add in a little extra for guests to take away, grown ups love a pick and mix sweet stall and this way they can take away their favorite sweets to enjoy at a later point, or even on the ride home. There can also be branded to your company or event name.
Summer Private dining events -If you’re hosting a BBQ party or picnic, popsicle cocktails are a grown-up version of a classic summer treat
Non-drinkers and designated drivers will appreciate you offering tasty non-alcoholic options, like gourmet lemonade, artisan soft drinks, coconut water or mocktails
International Fare – Give more meaning to your event by introducing flavours from your heritage or favourite places to travel (think spicy ramen noodles and Matcha tea ice cream for a Japanese-inspired menu, kimchi and beef skewers for a Korean BBQ, or tandoori salmon and lemon rice pilaf for a traditional dinner at an Indian restaurant)
